Ultra also supplies surveillance and Command and Control systems for homeland security. With facilities in Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax, Ultra Electronics employs more than 400 Canadians in the high technology defence and security sector.
Ultra has been a strategic supplier to Canada's military for more than six decades and provides software programmable line-of-sight tactical radios for the Army, sonar systems for the Navy, and antisubmarine expendables for the Air Force. The company also provides specialty electronic surveillance and warfare equipment to the Canadian Defence Laboratories and sponsoring Canadian University research has resulted in the sustained generation of intellectual property for use by Canada. This ensures long term viability in the competitive defence market and has permitted Ultra to expand its global market share.

Magneto
Inductive
Ultra Electronics has introduced a family of Magneto Inductive products to both the military and first responder
communities. This unique technology employs a quasi-static magnetic field to provide non-line-of-site signaling and
through-earth-communication (TTE) through media and materials that are impervious to traditional RF
communication systems.
Underwater
Battlespace
Ultra Electronics has a long history in the design and production of sonar systems for antisubmarine warfare.
Both aircraft deployed expendable sensors and warship/submarine towed sonar systems are manufactured at Ultra's Dartmouth
facility. This expertise has also served to expand Ultra's capability in long range underwater communications and
submarine launched ISR systems.
Electronic
Warfare
Ultra Electronics' Ottawa office specializes in the design, development and manufacture of cost effective
electronic warfare and signals intelligence systems for land, airborne, and naval use. These systems have been exported around the world,
as well as, being employed by Canada during the 2010 Olympics and G-8 / G-20 events.
